Select Charity Horse Show

Fees, Rules and Information

The purpose of this show is to raise money for the charities listed below.  As a participant, you
may designate one or more of the non-profit organizations listed below to receive your
payback money.  The Charities/Non-profits selected this year are as follows:

C & W Rustic Hollow Cat Shelter, Nashua
Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity, Waterloo

Iowa 4-H Equine Program, Ames
Retrieving Freedom, Waverly

FEES and RULES
Entry fees:
8 & under classes      $2.00 (ribbons and/or prizes through 8 places)
9 & over classes         $5.00 ($2.50 paid to your selected charity) schedule 30/25/20/15/10  plus
ribbons through 8 places
Other fees:
Office charge per horse  $3.00
Vehicle charge                  $1.00
*Stall fee                               $25.00 to reserve a stall which is refundable after stall check by show official, before leaving the grounds.  Must be paid in advance, received no later than July 28, 2017.
$8.00 minimum per bag (or going rate at time of show) of NCC shavings (you must buy NCC shavings & clean out your own stall).  4-H’ers may be available to clean your stall for a fee!
Tack Stall                    $5.00
Camping fees           $25.00/night 50 amp service, $15/night 30 amp service
$25.00/day for daytime electrical hookup with no camping
No guarantee that camping will be available, first come, first serve.
***Note:  One bag minimum of shavings per stall.  You must clean your own stall out before you leave the grounds – instructions will be given to you where to put the soiled bedding.  So bring your manure fork and muck basket! 4-H members may be available to clean your stall for a fee.
All horses must be stalled.  One horse per stall.  No jump-outs or overnight tie outs allowed.  No corrals will be allowed.
***Stall reservations are required in advance, received no later than July 28th, 2017.  Reservations are on a first come, first serve basis.  When stalls are gone, no more entries will be accepted.
***Helmets are required for exhibitors 18 and under.  Show clothing is optional.  Polo shirts or t-shirts with your barn name or saddle club or charity are acceptable.  No sleeveless shirts, tank tops, halter tops or shorts.  Western or English boots required.
***4-H rules apply for 18 & under classes otherwise AQHA rules apply unless not applicable.  NEISCA rules will apply on Sunday’s NEISCA classes only with the exception that helmets are required for all exhibitors 18 & under. All exhibitors may show in NEISCA classes. Sunday’s show requires NEISCA entry cards to be filled out for their records.  They will be available on Saturday to fill out. Tip: Make labels of your horse’s name and exhibitor and attach to card. Then just write in Class # and name.
***Patterns for showmanship, equitation, horsemanship and obstacle/trail classes will be posted on the website prior to the show.  This will allow everyone an opportunity to work with their horses prior to the show.  Dressage class tests should be brought with exhibitor.  Some copies will be available.
***A food stand will be available on the grounds.   No alcohol or drugs allowed – for humans or horses.

Requirements to qualify for the following Awards:

High Point Miniature Horse – must show in halter class, one in hand fun class and one in hand obstacle class.  Mini may  be shown by more than one exhibitor.
High Point Pony – must show in halter class, one in hand or riding fun class and one in hand or riding obstacle class, and one regular riding class.  Pony may be shown by more than one exhibitor.
High Point Horse – must show in halter class, one in-hand or riding fun class, one in-hand or riding obstacle class and one regular riding class.  Horse may be shown by more than one exhibitor.
High Point Youth  8 and under – exhibitor must show in showmanship, equitation or horsemanship, in hand or lead line obstacle and one fun class.  Exhibitor may show more than one animal.
High Point Youth 9 – 13 – exhibitor must show in showmanship, equitation or horsemanship, in-hand or riding obstacle, one fun class and one performance class.  Exhibitor may show more than one animal.
High Point Youth 14-18 – Exhibitor must show in showmanship, equitation or horsemanship, in-hand or riding obstacle, and one fun class and one performance class.
High Point 19 & over – exhibitor must show in showmanship, equitation or horsemanship, in-hand or riding obstacle, one fun class and one performance class.  Exhibitor may show more than one animal.
Note:  All exhibitors may show in more than one of the classes noted, but only their highest score in each division will be counted.

Stall Decorating Contest – Stall decorations are encouraged and will be judged on Sunday afternoon.  We encourage all exhibitors to participate.  Suggestion but not required – utilize one or all of the select non-profits as a theme for your decorations.

Battle of the Barns – Exhibitors may compete under a barn or club name.  Each entry per barn/club will count as one point.  Placings in classes will count based on number of entries in the class.

There will be a silent auction as well as stick horses races to raise money for the charities.  Please plan to participate in the fun and if you are able, please donate an item to the silent auction.
