4-H is a nation-wide organization that builds on a century of experience. Iowa 4-H fosters positive youth development and empowers youth to reach their full potential through working and learning in partnership with caring adults.  In Black Hawk County, kindergarten through 3rd grade youth participate in the Clover Kid program.  Programming is delivered as 4-H after school, Clover Kids Groups, or day/week summer camps.  Youth in grades 4th through 12th participate in 4-H after school or 4-H clubs.
Iowa 4-H follows the principles of experiential learning and draws on the knowledge base of Iowa State University and other institutions of higher education in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture. The Iowa 4-H Program’s vision and mission statements clearly view youth as partners working with staff and volunteers, as well as full participants in planning and working for individual and community change.
